The day finally came - New Belgium Tour de Fat returned to Durham for the second year hosting another fun filled afternoon of bikes, beer and entertainment at Diamond View Park adjacent to the American Tobacco Complex and Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
As it did last year, Tour de Fat Durham helped raise money for local non-profits focused on making the Triangle area a better place to ride a bike (and drink craft beer?!). I was again proud to volunteer for the event as a bike marshal, riding in the 4ish mile parade around Durham helping make sure people were safely enjoying the ride.

Triangle Spokes Group was the main charity that took the lead helping solicit and raise over $15,000 to be shared by themselves and 2-3 other charities. While the parade itself is a blast, the day was also filled with friends, awesome costumes, kick ass musical acts, amazing shows and BEER, specifically numerous flavors from the New Belgium line-up.
