VIR hosted their annual October Grand Am event last weekend and I headed out to the track with a friend on Sunday for the 4 hour Koni Challenge race and some drifting action. This year, the event was called the VIR Octoberfest and featured several support races including the Mazda Miata Playboy Cup Series. We spent the beautiful fall afternoon wandering the paddock and relaxing on the hill overlooking turn 4 during the race.
The Koni Challenge is divided into two classes; the GT and ST cars which are both on course at the same time. It's certainly always interesting to see V8 Mustangs and Porsche 911s racing on track with 4 cylinder Honda Civics and MINI Coopers in the mix.
As always, I got a few photos of the sites and focused on the MINIs a lot more than normal since I have been in the market for one. Since than, I have sold my Lexus IS300 and now have a 2006 MINI Cooper S for the next trip to VIR.
