Diffuser Drama v2.0



Since my F1 diffuser drama post, Brawn GP driver Jenson Button has gone on to also win the pole and race at the Malaysian Grand Prix. The non-trick diffuser teams appealed the race stewart's ruling on the legality of the Brawn diffuser at both races and that appeal was heard today by the FIA court of appeals. The FIA ruled the diffusers of Brawn, Toyota and Williams as legal and within the regulations. Despite their protests, the other teams have accepted the ruling and now have to figure out how to make their cars faster; preferably with their own version of a double decker diffuser. I look forward to watching some of the teams; imparticularly Mclaren and Ferrari; struggle with the task. I personally love watching the underdog, little guy make it in racing today that is normally dominated by the power teams with the most money.


However, guess who showed up at the GP of China in Shanghai today with their own trick diffuser mounted to the car. That's right, if you can't beat 'em - join 'em. Check out the McLaren MP4-24's new rear end diffuser:
