As has become customary for January, Scuderia Ferrari F1 Racing launched their 2009 F60 challenger and showed it to the public today in Maranello, Italy. For 2009, the FIA has mandated major changes to the cars this season and the new Ferrari is the first car to debut those changes.
You can see below that the '09 car looks sleeker and more retro. Gone are the tiny winglets and huge front aero wing. The rear wing is narrower and racing slicks replace the grooved tires that had been run for the past decade. The changes are supposed to improve the racing and driver's ability to pass on the track.
While the car looks a lot more like the F1 machines from the early 90's, you can be certain that the safety improvements made over the past 15 years to the car and cockpit area will remain.
Too bad for F1 and Ferrari fans because the F60 won't be racing in North America.
