The month of May at Indy concluded with a last lap pass at the line for the win by polesitter Sam Hornish Jr. over 19 year old rookie Marco Andretti and his father Michael who finished in third. It was a thrilling win for Sam and another Indy loss for Michael (also the team owner) and the Andretti family. Against many people's expectations, including my own, Marco showed he has the skill and ability of an Andretti and perhaps; the most of any of the family member since his grandfather Mario drove open-wheelers. A fine debut for the teenage racer at Indy.
For our upcoming trip to the midwest, we won't be making it to Cleveland for the Champ Car race afterall. Instead, we will only travel to Indy at the end of the month for the Formula One USGP and a couple stops in Kentucky on the way home including one minor one for a different kind of racing action.
